FOR

SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR/PROGRAM TECHNICIAN

JVS announces a staff opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) Switchboard Operator/Program Technician in its Career and Business Services department at the Rose & Sidney Diem building located in Southfield.

QUALIFICATIONS:

One year related experience operating a busy switchboard and six months related office experience. Must type 40 wpm. Experience with Microsoft Office preferred. Word preferred. Clear speaking voice. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with clients, public and staff. Written skills sufficient to record messages. Reasoning, math and language skills as measured by Agency normed tests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Operate switchboard - determine appropriate routing. Place and log local and long distance calls for users with restricted telephones.

2.

Greet clients and visitors and notify staff of arrivals.
 

3.

Process intake applications.

4.

Maintain and update computerized client data file.

5.

Utilizing Central Records, record, determine, collect and enter fee payments and generate receipts.

6.

Utilize Microsoft Word software to perform various clerical functions such as form letters, memos, labels, etc.

7.

Maintain appointment calendars and forms file. Maintain placement and counseling awaiting intake logs.

8.

Faxing and filing.

9.

Enter resume information into computerized database.

10.

Other clerical duties as assigned.

11.

Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.

12.

Perform basic data entry functions.
 
13. Maintain statistical data.

SALARY AND RELATED:

Salary is based on experience. Benefits include a Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO or HMO for individual coverage. Family coverage is available under a premium-sharing plan. Option is available to substitute $1,560 per year in lieu of health insurance. Other benefits include vacation, sick leave, life insurance, long-term disability, and retirement when eligibility requirements are met.
