ANNOUNCEMENT OF STAFF OPENING
FOR
JVS announces a staff opening for a full time
Job Coach (35 hours per week) in its
Community Based Services department located at the Rose and Sidney Diem building in
Southfield.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency required, two
years of college preferred. Work
experience with individuals with developmental, emotional and/or physical
impairments preferred. First Aid
and CPR certification required. Working
knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, task analysis and
fluency in American sign language preferred. Skills sufficient to work at
community sites with considerable independence and to exercise reasonable
judgment in handling challenges until supervisory back up is provided.
Successful completion of JVS Rehabilitation Technician training.
Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with participants,
employers, public and staff. Composition
skills sufficient to prepare required reports.
Driving record must be sufficient to meet safe driving standards as
established by Agency insurance carrier. Reliable
automobile and valid Michigan drivers license.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. |
Use
behavior modification, task analysis, data collection and recording, and
related techniques to implement intensive pre and post placement
assessment and/or training services, including on the job training.

2. |
Maintain production and quality standards at each site including carrying out job
duties in conjunction with the participant until participant's job
mastery is demonstrated.
|
3. |
Provide regular and systematic feedback to
participants regarding their performance. Using reasonable judgment,
successfully manage challenges with consumers at community sites until
supervisory consultation/back-up is provided so that site standards are
met and consumer safety is maintained.

4. |
Review participant progress and work with case
manager/coordinator and/or management staff to develop and/or revise
program goals.
|

5. |
Provide formal and informal in-service/training, including role modeling to employers, co-workers, and participants to facilitate social integration at the work site.
|
6. |
Collect data and prepare and/or assist with
periodic weekly, quarterly and annual documentation of participant
progress toward goals/objectives.
|
7. |
Modify training techniques and/or the environment
to accommodate various participants' disabilities.
|
8. |
Transport participants as needed using Agency van
or own vehicle.
|
9. |
Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.
|
10. |
Supervise participants and facilitate
development/refinement of interpersonal skills during lunch, breaks and
transitional periods. |
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. |
Work involves the ability to work flexible hours
including evenings, weekends and overtime in community and facility
settings, as well as traveling to local sites using own vehicle or
Agency van.

Work involves independently maintaining site
standards and managing consumer needs
in the community until such time as supervisory back up is available so
that employer expectations are met and consumer safety is
maintained.

Work
involves stooping, bending, working on
uneven surfaces. Ability to
transport items weighing up to 30 pounds from above shoulder to
ground level. |
SALARY AND RELATED:
Salary is based on
experience. Benefits include a Blue
Cross/Blue Shield PPO or HMO for individual coverage.
Family coverage is available under a premium-sharing plan.
Option is available to substitute $1,560 per year in lieu of health
insurance. Other benefits include
vacation, sick leave, life insurance, long-term disability, and retirement
when eligibility requirements are met.
