ANNOUNCEMENT OF STAFF OPENING

FOR

FOOD ASSISTANCE AND EDUCATION TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

JVS announces a staff opening for a full time (37.5 hours per week) Food Assistance and Education Training Instructor in its Macomb Job Link Program located in Clinton Township.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or related field required. Two to three years related experience working with economically disadvantaged/homeless/ex-felon individuals. Knowledge of counseling techniques required. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with participants, public and staff. Composition skills sufficient to score and document vocational test results and fulfill any necessary reporting requirements. Driving record must meet safe driving standards as established by Agency insurance carrier. Valid Michigan driver's license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Provide group and detailed individual instruction in career assessment and exploration and job readiness/job search skills needed to obtain and retain employment.

2.

Administer and interpret math and reading assessments, work readiness assessments and career exploration inventories, and barrier resolution inventories for all Food Assistance Program customers.
 

3.

Perform case coordination duties to ensure compliance with funding source requirements and customer satisfaction which include:

a)  Develop, implement and monitor each customer's Individual Service Strategy (ISS), which delineates goals, barriers, supportive services and outcomes.

b)  Maintain participant file and ensure program compliance by generating reports and statistics required by funding source and agency.

c)   Ensure documentation of all counseling conferences/telephone communications/services with participants.

d)   Maintain participant file and ensure program compliance by generating reports and statistics required by funding source and agency.
 

4.

Ensure that supportive service requests are processed and monitored according to
program policies and that required documentation is maintained.

5.

Provide information on training opportunities as related to career exploration and assessment, ensure that appropriate referrals are made and that customers' progress is monitored.

7.

Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1.

Work involves the ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings.

SALARY AND RELATED:

Salary based on experience. Benefits include a Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO or HMO for individual coverage. Family coverage is available under a premium-sharing plan. Option is available to substitute $1,560 per year in lieu of health insurance. Other benefits include vacation, sick leave, life insurance, long-term disability, and retirement when eligibility requirements are met.
