ANNOUNCEMENT OF STAFF OPENING

FOR

ACTIVITIES TECHNICIAN

JVS announces a staff opening for a full-time (35 hours per week) Activities Technician (35 hours per week) in its Activities Department located in West Bloomfield.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent required. One year related work experience with adults with developmental, emotional and/or physical impairments and/or experience with senior adults preferred. Knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, and task analysis preferred. Successful completion of JVS Rehabilitation Training within probationary period required. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with participants, public, and staff. Composition math and skills sufficient to prepare required documentation. Driving record must meet safe driving standards as established by Agency insurance carrier. Valid Michigan driver's license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Plan, schedule, implement and supervise activities that promote a healthy, active and socially integrated lifestyle for consumers. Provide physical assistance as needed to ensure their safety.
 

2.

Collect and record data on attendance, behavior, activities and consumers’ objectives on a weekly basis. Enter progress-related documentation onto appropriate format providing pertinent staff with progress related information for goal/objective revision in a timely manner.
 

3.

Use behavior modification and related techniques to implement training and/or behavior programs.
 

4.

Assist consumers in personal care, hygiene and grooming, including provision of physical assistance in transferring and mobility for individuals with physical impairments.
 

5.

Promote community integration to further enhance the integration skills of consumers.
 

6.

Provide ongoing feedback to consumers regarding their progress.
 

7.

Transport consumers using Agency van or own vehicle.
 

8.

Purchase supplies on an as needed basis.
 

9.

Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
 

1.

Work involves the ability to work flexible hours and to travel to local community sites.
 
2.Work involves physical assistance (i.e., transfers and mobility) of participants with weights averaging 150 pounds.
 
3.Work involves stooping, bending, working on uneven surfaces. Ability to transport items weighing up to 35 pounds from above shoulder to ground level.
 
SALARY AND RELATED:
 
Salary range is based on experience. Benefits include a Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO including Master Medical or HMO for individual coverage. Family coverage is available under a premium-sharing plan. Option is available to substitute $1,560 per year in lieu of health insurance. Other benefits include vacation, sick leave, life insurance, long-term disability, and retirement when eligibility requirements are met.
