ANNOUNCEMENT OF STAFF OPENING

Program Cook

HR Solutions Group announces a staff opening for a full-time Program Cook (40 hours per week) at Guiding Light Sober Living Treatment and Recovery department located at the Detroit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent. A Food Handler’s Card is required. Two to three years experience in cooking and menu planning, including special diets. Must be familiar with basic kitchen documentation. Previous supervision experience preferred. Experience working in a residential facility preferred. Reason, math and language skills required using normed tests. Must have good organizational skills and be detail oriented. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with program participants, public and staff. Composition skills sufficient to prepare required reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Prepare palatable food that is appetizing in plate presentation for residents.
 

2.

Use tools and equipment appropriately as well as practice principles of sanitation and food handling. Cleans and maintains the kitchen facility in a safe and sanitary manner including floors, wall, equipment and utensils.
 

3.

Prepare meal schedules and serving times and keep food waste to a minimum.
 

4.

Must keep sanitation and temperature logs, as well as inventory sheets.
 

5.

Must rotate food stock and practice proper food storage.
 

6. Supervises kitchen staff in a fair and professional manner. Complete written performance evaluations as required. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1.

Work involves standing for up to 85% of work time.
 
2. Considerable bending, kneeling, stooping, balancing and pushing.
 
3. Work involves the ability to work flexible hours including evenings.
 
4. Ability to regularly lift 35 lbs. with periodic lifting of up to 50 lbs.

SALARY AND RELATED:

Salary is based on experience.
