ANNOUNCEMENT OF STAFF OPENING

FOR

PROGRAM AIDE

JVS announces a staff opening for an on-call (up to 20 hours) Program Aide located at the Detroit Office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Six months related work experience with individuals with developmental, emotional and/or physical impairments. Working knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification and task analysis preferred. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with participants, public and staff. Composition skills sufficient to prepare required documentation. Driving record must meet safe driving standards as established by Agency insurance carrier. Valid Michigan driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Use behavior modification and related techniques to implement training and/or behavior programs.
 

2.

Assist with maintaining quality standards at volunteer sites and an orderly flow of program materials.
 

3.

Supervise participants and facilitate the development/refinement of interpersonal skills during program hours, breaks, lunch, and transition periods. Provide feedback to participants as needed.
 

4.

Use established techniques to gather administrative data, including attendance, behavior, quality control, and van logs.
 

5.

Assist participants in personal care, hygiene and grooming, including provision of physical assistance in transferring and mobility for individuals with physical impairments.
 

6.

Set up work area(s) and assist in modifying activities to accommodate individual participant disabilities.
 

7.

Transport participants as needed using Agency van or own vehicle.
 

8.

Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1.

Work involves physical assistance (i.e., transfers and mobility) of participants with weights averaging 150 pounds.
 
2. Work involves lifting, pulling, pushing and transporting work materials with weights up to 35 pounds between above shoulder and ground level.
 
3. Work involves the ability to work additional hours as needed to accommodate customer deadlines or funding source required documentation.
