VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION SERVICES

Individuals with barriers to employment find on-the-job success through a variety of programs that maximize their skills and level of employability.

 

FACILITY-BASED SERVICES

JVS provides opportunities for individuals with severe disabilities to learn work, social and community living skills at the JVS Adult Day Program. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, JVS staff also provide coordinated services, including counseling, advocacy and related services.

The JVS sheltered workshop, a component of the Adult Day Program, helps individuals develop work abilities and experience in a supportive environment that fosters personal growth and skill development. Individuals also learn skills needed for everyday life in classroom, community and apartment settings. Topics cover personal hygiene and grooming, nutrition; menu planning and meal preparation; banking and money management and other skills for independent living.

ACTIVITIES PROGRAM

Located at the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield, this unique program provides social and recreational programs for individuals with chronic mental illness and senior adults with developmental disabilities. Clients enjoy a wide range of activities including arts & crafts, exercise, swimming, field trips, and cooking. Contact activities@jvsdet.org .

 

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM
Provides case coordination, job placement, job coaching, and follow-up services to adults with disabilities.  Participants must be eligible for Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health services, MORC services or be referred by private insurance companies or schools.  For more
