Description: A Library Tour/Internet Workshop will take place on
Thursday, August 14, 2008, at 9:00 AM. A general Introduction and Orientation to the Library, including text and on-line job search resources, will be presented.
The hottest Job Search and Career Related Web Sites will be demonstrated, along with software on the Library computers that provides a wealth of employment and employer information. For example, did you know that you can develop a list of potential job leads in a specific occupation (including company name, address, phone number, contact name and website) by specific geographic area?
Also included will be hands-on information on how to develop and post electronic
resumes on-line. This includes such topics as: formatting and e-mailing resumes,
keyword and scannable resumes. Includes demonstrations. In addition, handouts will be provided for many excellent Web Sites.
A general understanding of the Internet and mouse competency is required. If clients do not have these basic skills, please refer them to the Southfield Public Library, where free classes are offered.
The Library provides an ideal setting, conducive to the job search, that is convenient for clients either before or after counselor appointments. Client referrals can be forwarded to Renee Rabideau by phone or e-mail.
